I've been looking for a chair like this for years, but never got around to buying one until recently. The assembly was surprisingly easy given how many parts came in the box. The design and build quality is good overall, but here are the reasons I'd say it's only "ok" and I don't "love it":(1) It's vinyl, not leather. The type of vinyl chosen feels cheaper to me than some other vinyls. BMW, Mercedes, and Audi for example all use a high-quality "leatherette" that feels like leather but is actually more durable and easier to clean. Not that I'd expect the same quality of leatherette as in a luxury car, but given the steel and wood frame (which are of high quality), I would have been willing to spend a few extra bucks on nicer leatherette.(2) It's Chinese. The chair comes with a faint smell of volatile organic compounds and tons of Styrofoam packaging and tape.(3) The chair squeaks a bit even with all the bolts and nuts tightened down.(4) The side table is a bit odd in that it cannot stay locked in one place. It swings back and forth along a horizontal plane-- even if at times you don't want it to.(5) The biggest problem with this chair overall is one huge design flaw: There is no real mechanical way to lock the chair in the upright, reclined, or in-between positions. There is instead a friction locking mechanism applied by tightening down a screw knob. You really have to screw it down extremely tight and-- even then-- you occasionally get a surprise while trying to sit up, when the chair suddenly wants to recline.Given the relatively low cost of the chair, I'm going to keep it. But I will be keeping my eyes open for a higher quality version.
